Leander ISD offers the world renowned International Baccalaureate Program on several campuses in the district. Cedar Park IB Schools in Leander ISD include CC MasonElementary, which then feeds into Running Brushy Middle and Leander High School. The IB program is also offered at the elementary level at Grandview Hills Elementary which feeds into Four Points Middle and Vandergrift High School.
Leander ISD implements two aspects of International Baccalaureate (IB):
Primary Years Programme (PYP) or students at the elementary school level at CC Mason and Grandview Hills. And the Diploma Programme for students at the high school level ay Leander High and Vandergrift High.
At the elementary level, The PYP prepares students to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others and have the capacity to participate in the world around them. It focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both within and beyond the classroom.
At the high school level, the rigorous coursework of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) provides a comprehensive, internationally recognized, two-year advanced academic program that begins in a student’s junior year of high school. Students graduating with an IB diploma
The IB DP is recognized and respected by the world’s leading universities because it offers a challenging and comprehensive curriculum that academically prepares students for the rigor of college. Additionally, IB DP students may receive college credit, including at least 24 hours at all Texas public universities for students who achieve the IB Diploma.
The IB Program is not offered at the middle school level in LISD, however there are Pre-Ap classes.
