Leander’s newest and largest City park, Lakewood Park, is one you don’t want to miss. Just minutes north of Cedar Park, this beautiful lakeside park offers many pristine amenities to enjoy any time of year. In 2015, with support from Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Williamson County Park Foundation, the City of Leander acquired 125 acres for the development of Lakewood Park. Opening in 2020, the park has become the crown jewel of Leander and host to several City events already. The park is open daily from 6:30 am to 8:00 pm so you can enjoy early morning fishing, a lakeside picnic or a sunset stroll.

Lakewood Park is nestled at the back of the newly constructed Crystal Springs community off of Crystal Falls Parkway between Ronald Reagan Blvd and the 183 Toll Road. As you drive through the neighborhood to get to the park, you can admire the row homes that create a welcoming small town vibe. On the left you will see the community pool. Continue to the back of the neighborhood until you see the entrance to Lakewood Park.
There are several large parking areas as you continue through Lakewood Park. The first parking lot on the left is the easiest way to access the playground, pavilion, restrooms and skate park. The playground is loads of fun for all ages and abilities. With plenty of benches for the parents and picnic tables around the playground, it would be the perfect spot for a playdate or even a birthday party. The splash park is open from the first weekend in April to the last weekend in October from 9:00 am to 7:45 pm.
The beautiful state of the art pavilion houses a large shade covered picnic area, restrooms and fun games. For more information on pavilion rental or hosting a celebration at the park, contact the City of Leander Parks & Recreation Department at 512-528-9909 to make a reservation.
Lakewood Park in Leander offers so many wonderful amenities to enjoy the outdoors lakeside. Bring your scooter, skateboard, rollerblades, bikes or strollers to meander through miles of paved walkways throughout the park. The skatepark is the perfect place to get started with long flat skate areas and then work your way up to more advanced skills. For the true skate rat, visit the skate park at Benbrook Ranch Park in Leander or at Brushy Creek Sports Park in Cedar Park.
The highlight of the park is of course the beautiful lake with the unique offering of kayak and standup paddle board rentals, lifejackets required and provided. The kayak rental station is at the very back of the park. Keep following the main road to the end. You can drop off supplies in front of the rental station, but you will have to park in the lot just before you get there. There are restrooms at the rental station too.
Bring your fishing pole too! Fish from a kayak or bring a chair and pick one of many lakeside private fishing spots. There is also a large fishing pier perfect for introducing the sport to your little ones. For catch and release fishing in local parks, anyone over 17 will need to get a fishing license through Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Lakewood Park also offers a large fenced dog park, a fishing pier, lakeside picnic areas, miles of trails, a basketball court and volleyball courts.
