Spring Events

Spring is one of our favorite times of the year in Central Texas! For most people (except for allergies) it is a welcomed change from winter weather and dreary looking landscapes. The trees are turning green and the wildflowers are showing their colors. With fresh scents in the air and the days warming up, Spring 2023 is a great time to get out and about in Cedar Park to enjoy some of these fun events.

Whether you want to get out to exercise or just enjoy the perfect weather, there is no shortage of things to do in Central Texas. At Cedar Park Living, we are always looking for fun events, fairs, markets, and outings to do. Here are some annual Spring Events in and around Cedar Park that you won’t want to miss!

Friday Night Fever Family Dance
February 24, 2023
Cedar Park Recreation Center, 1435 Main Street in Cedar Park
Celebrate the City of Cedar Park’s 50th Anniversary at a 70’s themed dance party. Party like it’s 1973! Celebrate the City of Cedar Park’s 50th Anniversary at the Friday Night Fever Family Dance. Details to come, but bell bottoms and boogie shoes will be encouraged! Registration is required (and free). Register online.

City of Cedar Park Movies in the Park
March 31, 2023
Milburn Park, 1901 Sun Chase Blvd in Cedar Park
Movies in the Park is a local family favorite. This season kicks off March 31, 2023. Additional dates are May 19 and September 8. Movie titles and details on the City Website. Enjoy an evening on the lawn with an evening showing of family-friendly movies. All movies are shown at Milburn Park. Bring your blankets/lawn chairs to enjoy the show. There are no food concessions and glass containers are prohibited, but you may being a picnic. Check the City of Cedar Park Website for event announcements and changes.

Cedar Fest BBQ Cook-Off
March 31 – April 1, 2023
Milburn Park, 1901 Sun Chase Blvd in Cedar Park
The Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Cedar Fest BBQ Cook-Off. 60+ Teams compete to impress the judges with their best BBQ. The BBQ Cook Off is Friday and Saturday, March 31st & April 1st. Competition and Judging are on Saturday, April 1st from 12PM to 2:30PM. The Cedar Fest Festival is then open to the public on Saturday, April 1st from 11 AM to 5 PM. Bring your family for rides, games, food trucks, booths & more! Admittance is free although some activities may have a fee.

Cedar Park Market Days
Every 3rd Saturday of the month, excluding January

It’s a monthly outdoor market event held in Cedar Park, Texas, featuring a variety of local artisans, farmers, and vendors who are passionate about their craft and community. You’ll find everything from handcrafted furniture to handmade jewelry to vintage clothing at the Cedar Park Market Days. The market typically takes place on the second Saturday of each month from February through December and is open to the public.

ABC Kite Fest at Zilker Park 
April 1, 2023
Zilker Park in Austin
An annual kite-flying event that attracts thousands of people from across the state each year. The festival features kite-making workshops and demonstrations from local kite enthusiasts and vendors selling kites, equipment, and accessories. The event also includes a variety of activities for children including face painting, balloon animals, and a magician.

ROCK Barn Dance
April 1, 2023
Merlin Hoppe Arena – 2050 Rockride Lane Georgetown
Come on out for music and fun celebrating the 17th Annual Barn Dance fundraiser benefitting ROCK Ride, a local non-profit serving those with special needs through equine therapy.

Bluebonnet Festival
April 7-9, 2023

You don’t want to miss this annual Bluebonnet Festival. If you love all things Texas Wildflowers, this is the festival for you. Enjoy arts and crafts, live music, food, carnival, and more.

Fusebox Festival
April 12-16, 2023
2824 Real Street in Austin
Fusebox is a hybrid arts festival that champions adventurous works of art in theater, dance, film, music, literature, and visual and culinary arts. The festival takes place over 5 days in venues and locations all over the city. Hundreds of local, national, and international artists across all disciplines converge for one of the most unique cultural events in the country.

Austin Reggae Fest
April 21-23, 2023
Auditorium Shores – 900 W Riverside Dr in Austin
A fundraiser for the Capital Area Food Bank, Reggae Fest features three days of reggae, world, and dub talent, along with more than 50 vendors selling food and arts & crafts. The Food Bank is at the front line of hunger relief, providing food for 46,000 Central Texans every week with the help of nearly 300 Partner Agencies in a 21-county service area.

MOTOGPTM Grand Prix of The Americas
May 14-16, 2023
Circuit of The Americas in Austin
MotoGPTM is the pinnacle of all motorcycle World Championships. The series is reinvigorating motorcycle racing in North America with wall-to-wall action and unbelievable access to the riders and their machines. MotoGP bikes are completely custom speed machines, built purely for the GP series.

Pecan Street Spring Arts Festival
May 6 & 7, 2023
between Brazos & IH35 – 525 E. 6th St in Austin
A free, family event, the Pecan Street Festival is the oldest and largest art festival in Central Texas. Musicians, food vendors, artists and crafts people turn Sixth Street – historically called Pecan Street – into a lively street fair where there is something for people of all ages.

Leander Old Town Street Festival
June 3, 2023
100 N. Brushy in Leander
The streets of Old Town Leander fill with local and national artisans offering handcrafted creations. Texas bands and artists bring the stage to life, and family-friendly activities delight both adults and children. Food vendors provide both healthy and indulgent choices. Local and regional wineries and distilleries bring a special flair with a visit to the wine and beer tent.

Austin Pond Planting & Volunteer Work

Brackenridge Field Laboratory – 2907 Lake Austin Blvd and Zilker Botanical Gardens
Austin Pond Society fund-raiser. Enjoy planting Day at Brackenridge Field Pollinator Garden. Help the environment by volunteering for a clean-out, water lily repotting, and fertilizing day at the front Goldfish Pond at Zilker Botanical Gardens, which has some of the most exquisite water gardens in the city. Get discount tickets, maps and learn more about this great organization on their website.

Vintage Market Days
February 24-26, 2023
HEB Center in Cedar Park
An annual event that typically takes place over a weekend in the spring or fall. It features over 100 vendors selling a variety of vintage and handmade items, including home decor, clothing, jewelry, and more. In addition to shopping, there are also food trucks and live music to enjoy.

If you love the fresh, local produce and quality goods that only come from a real farmer’s market, then you’ll want to be at this event. Spring is the best time of year to visit the Farmer’s Market! There will be plenty of farmers selling everything from locally grown fresh produce, to artisan foods, fresh bread, food trucks and more!

Rodeo Austin’s BBQ Austin

The Rodeo Austin’s BBQ cook-offs are back at Cedar Park! There will be cooking competitions, live music, and plenty of food and drinks to go around.

The 13th Annual Georgetown Swirl

A day-long event that brings together local businesses and community members to celebrate Georgetown’s history and culture. There will be live music from local bands, great food from local restaurants, and kid-friendly activities like face painting and crafts. All proceeds from this event benefit local charities!

Austin’s Grand Holi Celebration

Mason Heritage Days

The Mason Homestead – 1101 S. Bagdad in Leander
An annual celebration of the history, culture, and heritage of Mason County. The event will include a parade and carnival rides, as well as live music and food vendors. There will also be educational activities for children, such as face painting, animal exhibits, and other hands-on activities.

Austin Water Lantern Festival

The Surreal Garden

An outdoor event that brings artists and art lovers together. This year’s event will feature several new artists and performers. As you walk through the gardens, you’ll be surrounded by neon, art, and interactive sculptures from local artists and designers.

Bertram Art, Herb & Wine Festival

Red Poppy Festival

The Red Poppy Festival is one of the most popular holiday events in Austin. It’s a celebration of all things red and pink—from flowers and plants to clothing and accessories. You’ll find everything from red roses and poppies to beautiful scarves and hats. During this time, there are daily activities for kids and adults alike: arts and crafts projects, live music performances by local musicians, and games for all ages. Be sure to check it out!

17th Annual Pioneer Days

Old Settlers Association in Round Rock
The Williamson Museum’s annual Pioneer Days is a family-friendly event held at the Old Settlers Association, where visitors can dip candles, churn butter, make corn husk dolls and rag balls, wander through reenactment camps and chuck wagon areas and listen to live music. There will also be historic house tours and a fully stocked general store.

If you just want to get outside and enjoy the spring weather, here are places to get some fresh air and exercise.

Balcones Canyonland Wildlife Preserve

This mild weather also makes us want to find the perfect patio for dining or sipping. Here are a few of our favorite outdoor spots:

In Cedar Park, Blue Corn Harvest is perfect any time of day with its large outdoor eating area under large oak trees. Try to get there on a weekend morning for their Bloody Mary Bar!

In Leander, Casa Costa Bake Shop has delicious fresh baked goods and coffee and a cute little patio for enjoying a few moments with a friend.

In Round Rock, Papi’s Pies is set in a cute little old house with a quaint patio garden. The food is amazing too!

Bluebonnets are almost in bloom! A sure sign of Spring.  Check out the Best Place to View Wildflowers in Cedar Park for a full list of where to find the best spots in Cedar Park.

If you are getting the urge to spruce up your garden, visit Cedar Park’s locally owned and gorgeous garden center, Hill Country Water Gardens. You will find any plant you can imagine as well as unique garden accessories. Go get out there, breathe the fresh Spring air, and feel the sun on your face!
