Sri Venkateswara Temple of Austin

The mission of Sri Venkateswara Temple of Austin is to provide the local Hindu community a place for traditional worship and to provide religious, humanitarian, cultural and educational resources.

As you drive down New Hope to Veterans Memorial Park, you may notice the ornate tower and beautifully landscaped grounds of the Sri Venkateswara Temple of Austin. Stop by sometime and take a look. This culturally rich treasure of the Cedar Park community welcomes all to join in and learn more.

Part of the grounds includes their peaceful koi pond garden. It’s a wonderful place to sit, relax and listen to the tranquility of flowing water as you meditate. If you love water gardens, you will surely enjoy this small but beautiful garden right int he heart of Cedar Park.

Next door is another Hindu Temple – Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple of Austin. Founded on the teachings of Sai Baba whose life was one of unity. He lived to unite the different castes and creeds together as one family and unite every person with God. He saw no difference between one religion and another, saying often, “Sabka Malik Ek,” “One God governs all.”

Cedar Park has a large and growing population of Indian residents. The Sri Venkateswara Temple of Austin and the Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple of Austin are wonderful places for residents to gather and celebrate their culture and religion. There are also several businesses in the area owned by Indian residents that cater to the growing Indian population.

My family and I enjoy shopping at Man Pasand Grocery in the HUB shopping center at Lakeline Mall Drive and 183. In addition to the wide selection of fresh and packaged food, they also sell unique gift items, clothing, jewelry, and medicinal herbs and you can even rent some great Bollywood movies. You can try Biryani-n-Grill in the same shopping center for some deliciously prepared Indian food known for its modern interpretation of classic dishes and its insistence on only using high-quality fresh ingredients. We also love to eat at Teji’s in the 1890 Ranch Shopping Center in Cedar Park.
