Barbecue is an American culinary mainstay, but Texas takes it to the next level. From traditional styles to unique sauces and techniques, Central Texas has some of the BBQ restaurants in the world. Like a fine wine, there is no point in arguing which is the best BBQ. Everyone has their own tastes and experiences. So, why not just make it your mission to try them all and see which ones you like the best?

Whether you’re a local or just passing through, these restaurants offer mouthwatering cuts of meat, from smoked brisket to pulled pork and so much more. If you want to get your fill of savory smoked meats in the Lone Star State, here’s where to go for the best barbecue experiences around Cedar Park:

Stiles Switch BBQ
800 W Whitestone Blvd Suite A-1, Cedar Park, TX 78613
It’s a cafeteria-style restaurant with a nice ambiance and lots of cool, historical pictures. If you’re busy and just craving some truly great smoked meats without having to drive a few miles down to Lockhart or wait hours in line, Stiles Switch will fill your stomach nicely! Get in line, grab a tray, and choose your meats and your sides. The ribs and brisket are flavorful and come in generous servings. The burger and bacon jam combo was also spot-on—definitely one of the must-try brisket burgers!

Interstellar BBQ
12233 Ranch Rd 620 N Ste. 105, Austin, TX 78750
Get in line if you want some out-of-this-world BBQ. Sitting at #2 in The Top 50 BBQ Joints in Texas, it’s worth the wait. At Interstellar BBQ, they serve smoky meats with hints of sweetness. It is all so tender and delectable. They have brisket, lamb shoulder, pork ribs, tacos and more. It is all delicious, but the brisket is the show-stopper; it’s moist and flavorful, rivaling some of the best in Central Texas. Brisket is the barometer for Texas BBQ. Interstellar can easily slide into your top five favorites around Texas. While all the meats are terrific, don’t forget about the sides. The smoked scallop potatoes are heavenly! They also serve delicious tomato and zucchini salads, as well as jalapeño slaw. The BBQ beans are great, and the smoked gouda mac & cheese is fantastic. Excellent meats and unique sides, make this a must do. They were also featured on an episode of Somebody Feed Phil, which probably isn’t helping the line situation. Look out Franklin BBQ.

Rudy’s “Country Store” and Bar-B-Q
11570 Research Blvd, Austin, TX 78759
Texas gas station food at its finest! Cafeteria-style set-up, picnic-size tables, and a clean atmosphere. They serve you quickly with friendly service and can even gas you up at the pump in front, making it a great place to go for lunch or on the go. In the morning, they have a hot station with grab and go breakfast tacos and pigs in a blanket. With a fresh hot coffee or a big cup of iced tea, you have yourself a Texas breakfast of champions. For lunch or dinner, try the smoked baked potato, It’s huge and piled high with your choice of meat. Both the brisket and the turkey are smoked to perfection. My favorite there is the moist brisket and the cream corn. My guys love the turkey and ribs. The home sauce is one of the secrets to its awesome taste. You can get their “sissy sauce” if you don’t like a little kick. Die hard BBQ fans will make fun of you for liking Rudy’s, but I don’t care. I take all of my out of town guests and they love it. It’s a fun atmosphere too.

Cedar Park BBQ

Alziers Barbecue
109 Cypress Creek Ste B-7 Cedar Park, TX 78613
If you are in Austin and looking for a halal smokehouse, then look no further. The place is nice, well decorated, and clean, even the bathrooms. They have outside seating as well. Except for the turkey and beef sausage, everything they serve is halal. The beef brisket and ribs are melt-in-your-mouth tender, smoke. ,Also, don’t forget to order the sides, especially the cream corn. The potato salad is also phenomenal, and the restaurant itself serves a comfortable and fun area to eat.

Honey Pig BBQ Austin
11301 Lakeline Blvd unit 7, Austin, TX 78717
Honey Pig is a must-try if you want something different from what you usually eat! It’s not Texas BBQ – it’s Korean BBQ. An interactive and social experience as you cook raw meats at the tabletop grill. Served with a wide variety of delicious sides. We went with the family over the holiday and really enjoyed it. We ordered a variety family style meal and tried a bit of everything such as bulgogi of beef and pork, beef ribs and seafood varieties. They also serve steamed eggs, soybean soup, fish cake, kimchi pancakes, and cheese corn (sounds weird but it was delicious). They also serve rice and lettuce to make lettuce wraps. For comfort, a max party of 6 works best. More than that, you really need 2 grill tables, we learned the hard way.

Lazy G BBQ
2301 Brushy Creek Rd, Cedar Park, TX 78613
This is the place to go if you want one of the most tender briskets in town! It’s juicy and melts in your mouth, perfect with small sides of mac & cheese and potato salad, both of which are smooth, creamy, and hearty to round out the meal. Their ribs are very good, and the smoked burger is to die for! It has such a unique flavor. It appears to use homemade pickles, which are super tasty and a great complement to the burger. The food truck is on the property of a church along the road and sits in a beautiful grassy, tree-lined area with a couple of picnic tables. They have a cool area to sit and chill.

Smokey Mo’s BBQ
100 E Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park, TX 78613
This is definitely one of the go-to BBQ restaurants if you don’t feel like cooking. No barbecue sauce is needed to enjoy the wonderful flavor of the brisket. The ribs and chicken were fall-off-the-bone good. And if you have some space, make sure to get their banana pudding.
