Stroll the beautiful Cedar Park Sculpture Garden to admire outdoor sculptures lakeside. Located next to the Cedar Park Recreation Center at 1435 Main Street in Cedar Park, Texas the sculpture garden showcases the work of many local artists. Curated by the City of Cedar Park’s PACE Board, of which I am proudly a member, the sculptures bring not only beauty and intrigue to the park, but they also support local artists by helping them showcase their works to the public. Many of the sculptures are eventually purchased for the City’s collection of outdoor art.
The Cedar Park Sculpture Garden is supported by the local hotel-motel tax (HOT funds) and by donations made by residents and businesses through their water billing statements. The City encourages Cedar Park residents and businesses to patronize local hotels and motels for out-of-town visitors, and to “check the box” on water bills to support art in Cedar Park. Additionally, the City of Cedar Park gratefully accepts individual and corporate donations to help support public art in Cedar Park, including the Cedar Park Sculpture Garden.
The Cedar Park Sculpture Garden is an ever evolving, scenic stroll with meandering paths and beautiful views of both art and nature. Sculptures are changed out twice a year so you can visit often for a fresh new look. The City of Cedar Park is continually seeking new and innovative ways to bring unique cultural experiences to the community. Stay tuned for more exciting things to come!
If you haven’t taken the time to stroll through the Cedar Park Sculpture Garden, you should! Bring the whole family and enjoy this wonderful gift to the community. While you are there, continue around the expanded lakeside trail that now circles the lake completely. The trail winds through the sculpture garden along the lake and leads you through a tunnel to the spillway lake in front of SpringHill Suites. Loop around the small lake and head back towards the Recreation Center to finish the loop. Get a fun family photo in front of their mural wall along the trail too.
There are several fishing areas along the stocked pond. Or just pick a bench and enjoy the view. The paved sidewalk around the lake is perfect for little ones with scooters and bikes.
For more information about how the Sculpture Garden was created and more information about the individual artists, visit the City of Cedar Park Website. Future plans that are being discussed for this special Cedar Park gem in the heart of Cedar Park include a light display in the pedestrian tunnel and improvements to park amenities.
Along the trail, coming soon will be Spare Birdie Public House. This huge entertainment venue will be Cedar Park’s one-stop shop for upscale fun, featuring a full-service restaurant and bar, bowling, virtual golf, and live music. Stay tuned! The project recently broke ground behind At Home and will be completed in 2022.
