Summer Events are just around the corner. Summer is the perfect time to explore new activities and make memories. So if you’re ready to ditch the virtual world for some real-life adventures, let’s dive into some local fun summer activities that are sure to get the whole family excited and engaged!
Here are some upcoming events and things to do this summer.
Blues on the Green at Zilker Park – This event will run from June 14 to July 20, 2023. Pack a blanket and the family and make your way to Zilker Park for this summertime tradition. Held monthly from June to August, Austin’s largest free concert series will welcome groovy performances by local up-and-comers and Austin legends. Make it a staycation and get a hotel downtown to enjoy a nice dinner out, a morning paddle board adventure, a stroll around Zilker Botanical Garden and one of the many downtown food trucks for lunch.
Bat Fest at Congress Avenue Bridge – This event will be held on August 26, 2023. Celebrate this batty event as the world’s largest urban bat colony (1.5 million Mexican Free-Tailed Bats which take up seasonal residence beneath the Ann Richard’s Congress Street Bridge) take to the skies for their nightly flight. Enjoy live music, children’s activities, a costume contest, and more. The bats fly out every evening year round, but in the hot summer months they are abundant.
Cedar Park Market Days – Come out every third Saturday of the month for a one-of-a-kind shopping experience featuring hard to find goods from over 85 local artisans, specialty food vendors and crafters. We are a FREE family friendly event. Dogs are welcomed. In Lakeline Mall area near Pluckers at 11066 Pecan Park Blvd.
Cedar Park July 4th Celebration – Celebrate Independence Day in Cedar Park at Milburn Park! There will be live music, carnival rides, inflatables, concessions, fireworks, and a movie in the park immediately following the fireworks show. Glass is prohibited in the park. This is one of the bigger celebrations in the City of Cedar Park – something you don’t want to miss!
Go Skateboard Day – June 16, 2023 from 5-10PM. Cedar Park Parks and Recreation will be celebrating Go Skateboarding Day at Brushy Creek Skate Park at 2310 Brushy Creek Road. There will be a variety of competitions, including a game of SKATE, a bowl contest, and a street style competition. Waivers and helmets are required to compete!
Fantastic Fest at Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas – will run from September 21 to 28, 2023. Fantastic Fest is the largest genre film festival in the U.S., specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action, and just plain fantastic movies from around the world. Cool off anytime all summer long with a wide variety of movies and special events at Alamo.
Fall Pecan Street Festival at Sixth Street Austin – The festival will run from May 6 & 7, 2023, and September 16 & 17, 2023. The Pecan Street Festival is a free, bi-annual juried music, arts, and crafts festival held on historic Sixth Street. The show proudly features over 300 artisan vendors from all over the world who display and sell homemade art and craft work.
Georgetown Market Days – Every second Saturday of the month on the beautiful historic Georgetown square. Make a day of it and try some of Georgetown’s excellent restaurants and enjoy scenic walks along the San Gabriel River trails or Berry Springs Park.
Leander Liberty Fest – Monday July 3, 2023 at Lakewood Park. Leander’s largest annual event includes live music, food, children’s activities, and a spectacular fireworks show. Check website for parking and admissions info.
Leander Old Town Street Festival – June 3, 2023 head to old town Leander for food, fun, live music arts & crafts and more.

Margarita & Food Truck Festival – The Margarita and Food Truck Fest is coming to Round Rock Amp on Saturday, May 20th! The fest will be filled food trucks, a wide variety of margaritas, and live music! Round Rock Amp is a new outdoor entertainment venue opened in 2022.
Pirelli World Challenge at Circuit of The Americas – This event will be held on April 28, 2023. Sports car racing enthusiasts don’t want to miss this unparalleled series at COTA. Top racers and race cars from around the world go head-to-head on the track for three full days of action. See the website for event details and tickets.
Summer Camps – Summer camps are the best way to provide a fun and safe place for kids of all ages to enjoy summer fun. Whether they like sports, arts, technology, swimming, or even cooking, there is something for everyone in the Austin metro area. Take a look at this list of Summer Camps in Cedar Park and Northwest Austin. Some local favorites are YMCA and AcroTex. But, camps can get expensive for the whole summer, especially if you have more than one kid.
Texas Craft Brewers Festival at Fiesta Gardens – will be held on September 30, 2023. The Texas Craft Brewers Fest is the largest beer festival for and by Texas Brewers. This annual event features the best of Texas craft beer and displays the thriving beer community across Lone Star State.
Texas Farmers Market at Lakeline – Enjoy the tastes and sounds of summer every Saturday morning with live music, fresh locally grown produce and homemade treats, rain or shine.

Swimming & Splash Pads – In Cedar Park and surrounding areas there are many places to swim and splash. Here is a complete list of Cedar Park Pools and Splash Pads. Also, nearby on the border of Cedar Park and Round Rock, is the Quarry Splash Pad.
Day Trips – There is no shortage of day trips around the Austin metro area. Here are some Day Trip ideas I have posted before. One of our plans for this summer is to utilize the MetroRail more and explore downtown. Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Park is also a nice place to spend a morning exploring the gardens. Another fun Austin thing to do in the summer is to go see the Congress Bridge Bats fly out for their evening feast.
Parks and Playgrounds – There are so many nice playgrounds and parks in Cedar Park. You could visit several every week over the summer and not even get to all of them. Here is a list of Parks in Cedar Park to get you started. Cedar Park also offers special interest venues like the Skate Park and Golf Courses near Cedar Park, the BMX track and Sand Volleyball court at Milburn Park, and the Dog Park at Veterans Memorial.
The Brushy Creek Regional Bike Trail is a place you can visit many times at many different points along the 7-mile trail and do something different each time.
Hiking & Outdoors – The best time to get outdoors in the TX summer is first thing in the morning. Plan all of your hiking, biking, and strolling in the morning hours, and then go enjoy air-conditioned activities in the afternoon. Here’s a list of local hikes. If you plan on going to Hamilton Pool or other swimming holes, make sure you get a reservation before going.
Air Conditioned Things to Do – When it’s just too hot to enjoy the outdoors, luckily there are plenty of indoor things to do around Cedar Park. Checking this list Rainy Day Fun in Cedar Park is a good start but here are some more fun spots: Jump Street, iFly Indoor Skydiving, Lakeline Mall and AMC Lakeline Theater, and the Cedar Park Public Library. Feeling artsy? Check out Cedar Park Art Classes or Museums near Cedar Park and Austin Metro and get creative or head over to Cedar Park Murals to see more artworks. Mount Playmore is also a nice indoor place to go or you can venture up to Round Rock to try Monster Mini Golf and Bass Pro Shop & Bowling
